I seem to be much better at painting than I am at doing the behind the scenes work, such as blogging.  It has been years!  wonderful years in Pinehurst and Aberdeen that have been filled with many workshops with top instructors, teaching oil classes at the Artists League of the Sandhills, lots of painting, and exhibiting my work.  Sales have been very good. My followers tend to come back for more.  Plein air is still a joy.  Teaching has been a real joy.

Exhibiting at the  Artists League of the Sandhills Exchange Street Gallery and the Arts Council of Moore County has brought awards, including “Best in Show” at both locations.

I hope you will find time to view my new work on the website.  I also post new paintings on Instagram at Courtneyherndon.  Please feel free to send me any questions you have.    I truly appreciate your interest.  Thank you.

Constable Country

What triggers a rush to the easel? For me, last week, it was two photographs taken by a good friend in England. On holiday, she and her husband toured Essex and walked where Constable painted, in the lovely English countryside. One look at these photos and I was off painting, I could not do it fast enough. Ended up with a very impressionistic knife painting, now titled Constable Country. See it on my web site, still wet and very fresh. I intend to do the companion photo very soon.
